The benefit that everyone gets from wisdom is magical defence bonuses:
Wisdom Score
8-14 - no bonus
15 - +1 mag defence
16 - +2 mag defence
17 - +3 mag defence
18-25 - +4 mag defence
Clerics also get bonus spells. It is worth getting a stupidly high score to take full advantage of this - with a wisdom of 23 its possible to have 16 bonus spells!
In D&D, high wisdoms also give spell immunities. I am not sure if this has been implemented in SoA at all...
e.g. 19 wisdom should make the character immune to cause fear, charm person, command, friends and hypnotism spells.
This should also apply to intelligence, which should make the user immune to illusion spells when the intelligence is above 19.
e.g. 19 intelligence immune to 1st level illusions, 20 intelligence immune to second level illusions... 25 intelligence immune to 7th level illusions.
I'm pretty sure the intelligence illusion immunities havent been introduced because the mind flayers don't seem to notice...
