Did you get the obelisk of light from Kerah? There is a pedestal which is hit by a light - put the obelisk on that pedestal then look around and you'll see other obelisk like items that you can carry and strange squares marked off in the floor. Put a decorative obelisk on each of those squares and the light will go all the way to the holy altar where you should put the ashes. Good luck!
