Sure, in Poland miners also want to have stable work for all of them and to earn as they earned. The problem is different - they have to high costs, they produce to much coal and nobody wants to buy it. They have to export it below costs. It means that all society, all people paying taxes have to finance them!
They create huge deficit and protest when old mines have to be shut down. This is problem with unions: they care about members only, they dont care about other people, about whole economy.
