The downside of being an illusionsist is u cant cast necromancy, no big deal at lower levels but 'Death' and 'Finger of Death' can make short work of some real tought enemys, athlough illusions may help u avoid them altogether i suppose.
Specialist mages seem to get more spells per level than the other wizards, and are more flexable the sorcerers, the only downside is chosing which sphere of magic u DONT need....
