This is a language made just for programming sprite based games, it is easy to use this is for the English, but I think there is a Dutch version of it. I have been using it for a few weeks and you could make a good RPG on it.

this is a language for 3d games, I have not really used it but it seems quite simple to use.
Both have demos to download.

Also there are a lot of programs for making console based RPGs,
the only one I have a link for is the Official Hamster Republic RPG Construction Engine it's only in it beta stage but it might worth a look:

Also take a look at Dungeon Craft it should be a link on the ironworks page. It looks quite good.


As for the sword, give it a mind of it's own. That always makes things fun.
