Having your THACO reduced is good!.
Your THACO is used when determining wether you hit your opponent or not.
Ex: You have a THACO of 12 and you are attacking an opponent with an
AC (Amour class) Of 6. What you do is, you subtract The AC of your opponent
from your own THACO.
This leaves you with a "to hit" number of 6.
Now its time for the attack roll.
this is made with 1d20, resulting of course in a number between 1 and 20.
If you roll 6 (to hit) or more you hit the bloody thing
and if not you just look stupid!
This of course is only the short version(there are only about 1000 other
factors that determin the outcome of a batle) but you get the idea
Hve fun
