The key that Adrianna gives you is supposed to be for a vault way down at the bottom of the castle but near as anyone can tell, it is not needed. The vampire ring's only drawback is that it is cursed. If the curse (taking hit points) doesn't cause your charater too much trouble then there is no problem wearing it. One of my characters uses a cursed staff and is quite happy with it.
