What he did was a simple trick of psychology...nothing genious about it. The University of Yale did a few experiments to prove how easily humans can be tricked to do something...and I have seen the actual footage of the experiments.

The scientists were able to provoke a man to keep hitting a fake shock button to supposedly electicute a man in another room, who could be heard faking his screams and later his own unconsciousness. The man doing the supposed harm had no idea that he was being put to the test, he thought the man in the other room was the test sunject. If I remember the exact results, 8 of 10 men continued to shock the victim even though they knew it was wrong. Only two stopped when the fake screams were too much to bare. To prove a point, the same college performed another test on female nurses...who resulted in the same degree of inhumanity. We are a weak race that tend to follow a strong leader if provoked enough, both men and women...by what these tests suggest.

There was no political genious about it.
