In fact, if you want some more fun info...English is not the official language of the US, because the Congress has never made that declaration, and when that bill tries to get passed, they shoot it down every time. Thus we are a mixed breed of all other nations.

I am of the understanding that, much to the horror of any English language purists here in England who accuse Americans of speaking a degraded form of English, that actually US English has changed less than UK English and is closer to so-called 'proper' English. It is we in the UK who have changed the language most
