I live in a semi-detached house in the good ol' North East of England. I'm not sure about Swedish homes, but many English homes (obviously flats don't either) don't have basements. Carpetting is in all rooms in my house except the kitchen, living room and bathroom, which have wooden floor. My family are funding IKEA, most of our furniture is from there .
Not as many ornaments in my house, parent's aren't the ornament type. In the living room (aka front room, aka room with big TV ) there are quite a few pictures of family and a few others. No plants because my dog eats then or uses them as the toilet, so thats a no.
Like I said IKEA is a big place to buy furniture for us, but also local shops which specialise in types, mostly beds, is where my family sometimes goes to buy furniture. Since we got our house redecorated (room by room, typical my bedroom was second last!) my room and the kitchen hasn't got curtains, but blinds instead. Lighting is from "the big light" on the ceiling in the centre of the room, but most rooms have standing lamps in the corners, or smaller lamps on tables

This may be different to some people's houses, it's just what my house is like
