Thats not true. I have had 20 char for weeks, and still both Korgan and Edwin accepted to join my party.
Edwin tried to leave once. But, when he did, I reloaded, and changed the leader, to one with higher charisma.
Remember that, the higher charisma of leader, the larger chance of people to stay.
