Jainism originated in India in (I think) the sixth century. I just know that it deals with cosmic principles, and it's centered around non-violence to all living things. It's seen as pretty democratic in its nature. There is no one single creator or divine being, but there are kind of semi-Gods that rule over certain elements of existance. It reminds me a bit of animism really, probably because it's a real spiritual faith. That's about all I know, I'm sorry it's a bit vague.
