Man, check what your contract says about breaking lease. You could lose your deposit for example. I've broken lease before, and have lost my deposit. No big deal considering you could lose an eye, or your life, or your car or whatever if things are as bad as you're describing.

But It's in northwest England.
I'm looking around the house now for things I could use for loop-holes, there's no smoke alarms/fire exits etc, so I think there's a breach there, and small things like the bannister on the stairs has no spindles. Crazy, but it is against the law in multi-occupancy rented accomodation. If I can find somewhere else, I think I'm going to break lease, deffo.
