Ehh? There shouldn´t be too much problems with AoE II on winXP. It runs perfectly for me on win2000 with sounds and all, as does the original AoE. Strange. And AoE uses directx does it not? Threfore I doubt vmdsound will help you since it uses IRQ, DMA etc.
