Great Dungeon Master moment.
The Liquid-Mithril Golem(yeah, this was shortly after Terminator 2).
It had straight 25's for stats and also had ALL physical attacks/attributes of all classes (Thief Backstab/Monk Quivering Palm/Weapon-Specialization/etc).
Can only be hit by a +5 (or better) weapon, and only takes damage from the magical bonus (5-6 dmg max).
It was in a room witha nasty trap in the middle of the room - it was basically a Quicksand trap. It looked solid, but a character would sink as fast as falling in water.
I used this set-up in a "relic quest" for a player who NEVER took any damage to his characters. Regardless of what you threw at him, he had just taken whatever steps needed to avoid the damage 3 segments before the attack.
To make a long story short, the golem gave this character a very thorough beating, during which he "fell" into the quicksand trap while trying to escape. Since he was a ranger and couldn't cast "Airy Water" if his life depended on it (and it did), he learned a great lesson in humility.
Moral of the story - the DM is the most powerful monster in the game, period.
