From what i se the Windows 2000 is an "Office" product not for games so i whould suggest Win XP because it is buildt for games and home entertainment and i have had win xp now for one year and newer get into any problems with games or whatever and the "Teletubbies" thingies can easly be "removed" by changing the look in the settings so that is nothing to be worried about!

And it is wery stabile to i have not rebooting the pc for almost a month and i play Diablo II, NWN, Morrowind, Thief 1 & 2, M&M 9, and belive it or not Ultima 9 so i have no prob at all and i installed a new ADSL modem no prob, installed new network card, no prob installed new scanner no prob so i can say it is WAY better than win 98 that crashed all the time! lol

but the best is Linux but there you can`t play so mutch games lol!
