Indeed, don't trust it as far as you can throw it.

Windows will actually threaten during the install to delete the contents of My Documents so definitely back it all up. ( I believe it says "may be deleted" - surely it either will be or won't be?! Is it any wonder it's easy to get nervous around Windows...?)

I believe you can use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to transfer the contents (i presume) of Documents&Settings to your current installation. I've never used it myself, but that may make the task much easier. You can find it in Start -> Programmes -> Accessories -> System Tools
