If you only want the Daystar sword you don't actually have to kill the Lich. Just get your thief to sprint in, unlock the chest and grab the sword, then sprint out again. It works like a charm, and the Lich won't follow you. You get your precious sword, and the Lich gets to go back to sleep. Everybody's happy
