Hoyle has a book on Chess.
It not only teaches you various strategies, but explains them. I read that book when I was 6. By the time I was 12, my father refused to play against me anymore because I could beat him.
I do not have one set 'style' of play because I tend to 'feel out' the person I'm playing against and adjust my style to counter the other person.
Typically, though, first game in, I do a variation of the 'pawn wall' protecting the sides while freeing up the middle to aggressively attack my opponent.
I'm heavy on knight usage and tend to 'castle' whenever possible.
Doesn't always work, but there's what I have to offer.
