Once you enter the Elven City there is pretty much no going back to BG2
you'll work through the city and be in ToB before you know it
so as was said, bag everything in your holding bag/backpacks that you have stored
Buy anything you want but didn't buy yet
Complete any outstanding quests you have

Then onward to ToB
