I remember that day well and because the challenge was laid down by the topic poster I will bore you all with the details .

I was studying for the last important subject of my first year Engineering exams (Dr Doom's Electrical 101) and hoping that I had scraped good enough marks in the horror 2 x 3 hour maths papers that examined the whole 12 months of first year that I had sat the day before. Poor marks would have meant I was unable to transfer to a better University and study Chemical Engineering and would have consigned me to a poorer life as (ugh) a Mechanical Eng.

The Electrical 101 was the last tough one for me. With the Berlin Wall coming down and friends in town I did all my study for the final exam (Physics) at the local casino. I got so blind and won so much money that night - fantastic, and they had a huge wall TV that was showing scenes from the Wall. I fronted for the 8am physics exam after leaving the casino at 5am. I looked at the questions, stayed the minimum 20 mins and left. I used the 20 mins to write an apology to the lecturer for wasting his time and explained that I had decided not to attempt to improve my existing grade (Distinction) due to a freak case of alcholic poisoning.

I was 26 and a bit.
