I'll see wah t I can remember...I had the same problem. After you load the badges in the slots and go up the stairs (which saves game automaticlly) save again when you get to the next area. I've alos heard using no magic in the battle will help, but cant tell you for sure on that one, I used mucho magic. Also moving a game folder will do it, but having been watching (American) football all day I cant quite remember the exact sequence. Yes beer has had an effect.
