Could be that keyboard mapper problem. Somewhere in Windows, you can set up hotkeys for various things. Somehow, one may have gotten set for your shift key. Does it happen for both shift keys?
If that's it, find the hotkey mapper and remove them. If I knew exactly where it was, I'd tell ya, but I don't
