I like Mazzy a LOT!! She is a great fighter, and her archery skills are better than anyone but an 'archer class' principle character. I use the #6 slot for quest characters until I meet Mazzy, then she stays as permanant.
Jaheira is also excellent as a fighter and healer - just ignore her ungracious temperament!
