While not having experienced it, I would expect that it depends on where the strike lands.
If it lands such that the compression wave would enter the pipe, then yes. If the wave would roll over the pipe (coming from the side, basically), then I wouldn't think so.
I'm not volunteering for experiments to determine the truth, but it's worth suggesting it to Mythbusters
