I, for one, refuse to call bandages or plasters, 'band-aids'. It frustrates the hell out of me when I go over to Canada (as I frequently do) and hear tissues being called 'kleenex' and plasters being called 'band-aids'. I don't care if its a brand name. Of course, being English, there are a lot of words that you on the American Continent use that really make my teeth grind.
Edit: Calling Maths 'Math' makes no sense at all. You study 'Mathematics' - plural, with an 's'. Calling it 'Math' sounds so wrong. If you study 'Mathematics', then, naturally, you should abbreviate it to 'Maths'. My two 'cents'.
