Yeh, did that one yesterday. You need to get all chains in the down position before you pull the one that never stays down. Just wander around, and every time you find a chain up, pull it down. Some chains are linked, so that pulling one down may lift another. About 3 mins of persistence is all that's required. Once you have all 7 down, pull the eighth (ie the one that springs back up immediately). Hey presto, door will open.
