personally i take Jan over Yoshi every time. If you don't care for Jaheira I find Anomen to be better. His melee is strong and he levels quicker. Edwin gets extra spells because if memory serves he is a specialist mage. Also I think one of his items I think gives bonus spells but doesn't say it does? Could be wrong on tht but pretty sure. Sounds to me you are light on melee more than anything else. Although Jaheira isn't bad with the correct eq korgan or anomen would probably be better.
