LOL! I had the same question when I started! The pic to the left has to do with how many posts you have. It will change as your posts go up.

As for the sigs, you can edit them in your profile. They go by UBB not HTML here, though. I don't know if this can be seen in your profile screen, but when you have the reply screen on, if you look to the left over the smilies legend, there is a link there that will explain!
