Hmmmm... I played purely solo, and did not pick up a single NPC save one. I picked up Keldorn to do his quest because it was very easy and took very little time. I did not share any Xp because we did not encounter any robbers and I just got the 10,000 Xp free of charge.

No fighting needed.
