i put a fire shield on my paladin, marched him in, and waited until all the beasts were upon him then unleashed fireballs, wand of the heavens and wand of fireballs. My paladin had the undead slaying long sword (forget the name) and a greenstone amulet (plundered from killing Mordakai's sword from the spell). They were very easy to kill. If not then try lowering the difficulty level for that 1 battle
