The tool you're talking about, Larry, is tracert -- exit to a command prompt and run :

c:\> tracert www.ironworksforum.com

*edit* I meant to say that it's a standard part of Windows up to at least Win2k */edit*

That will show you the hops along the way. You can also run it with the IP address instead of the URL, and see if the path is dramatically different.

If this is the case, someone likely clobbered a DNS setting, switching themselves as a DNS server for a legit one. For those unfamiliar with it, DNS is the means by which computers translate URLs (like www.ironworksforum.com) to an IP address.

To make the local hosts file thing work, you need to copy the hosts.sam file to hosts (no extension, no dot) and add your entry in there. There are examples to work from.
