Yeah, I recommend Sorcerers as well. It`s such a relief to get rid of the memorizing spells bit. My Sorcerer is like a walking flamethrower. She will run up to enemies and WOOSH!, hit them with a couple of Burning Hands...
That said, I haven`t tried a Wild Mage yet.
