Theft, Learning, Trade, Identification - the rest you can level up when you have money to burn.
As for spells, get Magic Door, Invisibility, Berserker and Reflection if you intend to use a weapon as your main offensive tactic.
At any level, an item with "Increased Spell Duration" will be a great help
