switches are thrown in the switch rooms there is one in the first abandoned mine the other is in the lava area somewere I think lots of running back and forth in an almost unmappable area.
Another way is to switch the tracks is operate the lever and run after the trolley you can operate the switch through the bars. There is allegdley a switch just inside the outer gate to open it. I did run through and flipped the switch but never noticed the switch just inside the tunnel and found myself trapped so reloaded (I always save before trying something like this)
