You dont really need the sticks. If you've got high agility (anything above 14

) then, you can jump to the ledges with a tall character that is not weighted down by to much equipement. It will take a few tries of "looking up and walking while jumping" to make it happen but once you get the hang of it, it will because usefull in other places in the game.
