Picture this: Last year...we have a beautiful man-made pond out in our front yard, ten big goldfish living in it and a toad who lives under some rocks behind the fountain<---the fountain is a cherub holding a half shell that water flows into and over its front edge.

I had found the toad while raking up cut grass in the back yard one day the year before. How he got spared by the mower is a mystery, but I moved him to the pond. He loved it there.

KHaN's mother comes over one day and tells us that frogs have taken over their pond and their yard and that we need some frogs.
I raise my hands and make a cross with my forefingers "No frogs! We already have a toad, we don't need any frogs. No frogs."
She: "You all realy need some frogs out there!"
I raise my hands and make a cross with my forefingers again. "Seriously, no frogs."
She, giggling: "No, I think you all really need some frogs!"
Both me and KHaN: "Please, no frogs."
She seemed to laugh it off and just left.

Well one day the next week she walks in and says "It looks like some frogs have migrated to your pond!"
Like frogs would migrate that far for the first time in two years. Pissed me off to go out there and see not just a couple but at least twelve of the little bastages on the lily pads, up the steps of the fountain, and basically all over the place. Of course, you're not allowed to get pissed off at KHaN's mother and tell either him or her about it.
After we told her more than once, no frogs, she brought them over anyway and expected us to believe that they came over all on their own.
Before she left, she also told us almost all of her frogs were gone and she didn't know where they went!
This is a lady who tells lies and believes them, thinking you should too.

So what happens?
Our toad disappeared for one.
Then, one by one, for weeks on end, our cats brought us dead frogs!
Eleven total.
By this spring I had already accidentally killed the fish and the frogs had laid eggs in the water before the next-to-the-last-one was killed so in April we had a pond full of tadpoles!
I took the tadpoles out to the school I go to and put them in a pond on that property...as much as I tried, I never did catch the last frog but KHaN saw him flattened out in the street a couple of days ago.

So now, we have an empty pond which is completely dry at this point as well because it needs some work to prevent an accident like the one I caused that killed all the fish last year.

Today I was out in the back yard watering my bougainvillea and noticed some monkey grass coming up under one of the branches. I had put some clay pipes (that I have other plans for eventually) around the base of the bougainvillea to keep the dogs from digging it up, so I moved one to pull the monkey grass and who did I find living out there? The Toad!!!!!!!

I am going to bed early tomorrow so I can get an early start on the pond renovation while its still cool outside.
I am sure he'd love to come home as much as we want him back.

And guess what?
KHaN's mother didn't get rid of enough frogs last year, lol...this year she has a pond full of tadpoles and with our pond all dried up, she has nowhere to dump the frogs off!!!!!
