I really don't understand your problem. You can exit at any time by using the back entrance and swimming out of walking out the front door (after pulling the switch).
I beleive the door you are referring to is one that only opens from the inside. All other doors open mainly by switches.
If you have killed the Naga and visited the statue, you can probably leave.
