It really depends on what type of character you want to play. If you want access to a WIDE array of spells (all of them,) then be a normal mage.
If you want to specialize in a school of magic as an evil wizard necromancy would probably be the most used, but really any school would be fine.
If you want lots of magical power without having to rememorize spells then a sorcerer is the way to go - remember though that you only choose a limited amount of spells to know for each level. That can lead to hard decisions at level up time.
