I think BG is not thought tobe played as evil cause dialogues sometimes even don´t allow you to be really bad. Simply take a look at the introduction, when Shank or Carbos attacks you, you can´t tell Parda or the priest to leave you in peace, only 'Oh, they attacked me they´re so bad !!' or 'It´s nothing, don´t worry'.
And the other point is the reputation, which you should increase sometimes cause the flaming fist wizard: protected from normal missiles, and the flaming fist rangers etc etc are VERY hard, specially in lower levels.
