well, depends on what you want
the sorcerer can cast high level spells more often than the wizard (maybe 4 or 5 times per day level 8 and 5 or 6 times level 7) so he's quite potent, but only has two different spells to choose for spell level 8.
So if you want to use a greater variety of spells (especially high level), but use them less frequent(only 3 times level 7 and 2 times level 8) take the wizard (although I heard that in TOB the sorcerer will get more spells for his book)
