Its not utterly worthless really when you consider at low levels a possible scenario where your mage runs out of spells, darts or sling bullets.
I always buy it for quick blasting magic users or other creatures from distance for a round or for exactly the type of scenario I described.
Sure, compared to your average level 12 mage's magic missile quotient its paltry, but still, any free damage can be quite handy at times. [img]smile.gif[/img]
