I hope you are correct.

I find Powell to be the most reasonable of the lot.

We can't blame Bush entirely for his policies. Bush is easily influenced by the 10 men that are still in positions of power that have been pushing for over 10 years to install a policy to allow the US to attack any country that may pose a future threat US interest. This policy was rejected by Clinton and it certainly isn't making any friends around the world.
