I don't know if this helps, but it took me about 5 times to get a proper full install.

I don't remember if I ever got the Blue Screen of Death, but I know installing was pretty buggy. Fortunately, I've had very few problems since then (knock on wood).

The only other thing I can think of is copying some files to the hard drive yourself. I know with my full install there are directories for CD 2 and CD 3 (I think that's HOW) in the IWD directory.
