This is easy! To be honest, the game saves itself! Here's how it works:

Player X starts a MPgame, one or more joins. Everyone is having fun. Eventually, people have to quit for this session and finally, only ONE player is still in the game. This can be player X as well as player Y, or Z or anyone else who joined the session. Whom ever last out gets this game session saved on his machine. When the game is to be continued. This last person to quit has to be the host. He/she will then see the option to load game when starting a MP session...
In other words, The person last out must be first in the next time. You can let anyone save the game at anytime by simply telling him/her to wait for the others to quit first. The last machine is the host next time.

Easy, eh?
