I am thinking about the Hand as well.

Just think about it as if the skeletons are 'hidden' and ambush you. Alternatively you can imagene that your presence have disturbed something within the mythal, which revives the creatures bound within it.

Anyway the 'fireball' skeletons (burning?) always appear in the same place - just place one character right next to the spot and all the others out of range. Then have the front character protected from fire (potion or spell).
