I agree about that if it's meant to be it'll work out one way or another. My parents broke up constantly when they were dating. For part of the time, my mom was living in NY going to college and my dad was in California. He wrote her a letter one of the times they were broken up saying how much he missed her and wanted her to come out there to see her. Imagine how pissed she was when she found out he had written the same letter to 2 other ex girlfriends.
Obviously, Dad changed his ways and Mom forgave him, and they eventually got married. They'll be celebrating 29 years of marriage in about a week, and they are still sickingly lovey dovey. If things are meant to be, if she's truely the one, then it will happen.

But, if you need to change your goals and your dreams to be with her, then she's not the one and you will only wind up resenting her in the end because of all you gave up, so maybe you can use now as a time for some self reflection to figure out what it is that you want from life.
