From what I recall of a tv show on the topic, Man-made sea walls have have led to the acceleration of erosion in some places.

I dont recall many of the details though... There was something about the energy of the waves hitting the sea-walls is tranfered to places where there is no sea walls.

Also something about sea walls interfering with a natural give and take process that has shapes the ever changing coastline. In some places beaches disappear up to a sea wall because the tidal force sucks the beach material back out after hitting the sea wall.

Well, thats what I remeber on the topic, but I could be inaccurate. [img]smile.gif[/img]
