I also heard this story yesterday on the radio (abc news again)
the discussion is speculation and the source was "unnamed officials in the administration". This could perhaps be a ploy like those used against Syria to bring Iran to the negotiation table, it may be all lies to make the administration look bad or it could be prelude to invasion of Iran.
If it is a prelude to invasion...I will be most troubled and will be VERY curious as to what the wenies in washington are thinking......watch and wait is all we can do right now.
