I think it kinda makes sense. If you're going after Saerk, he's LG and a Knight of the Order. They don't really have the "real person" thing going on

There's now evidence (that was missing before), a LG guy should let the authorities do their thing, rather than just going and lynching the bugger.

In romance, whatever you did with the pre-test quest is wrong, so he'll get a letter from daddy dearest saying "Eh, sorry, it wasn't Saerk, cheers for offing him. By the way, I'm disowning you. Bye." He will then run off to whack Cor, and it's a clone of the Saerk situation that you've seen. You have to talk him down or you lose him for good. GODDAMNIT I WANT TO KILL COR >_<
As an aside for the Anomen haters, you can actually get him to commit suicide at this point in the CN romance by dragging your feet for about five days after he storms off. Sleep for a week then check in at the Delryn estate - a handy servant will fill you in on events.
